What to do if you have symptoms

As you may have heard, from Tuesday 5th January 2021, due to the escalation in the Covid 19 pandemic, the country will go into a further lockdown, similar to the earlier previous lockdown last year, with the core instruction to stay home stay safe and protect the NHS.

Unlike the first lockdown it is clear that essential medical and dental services will be allowed to continue during this new lockdown. At Lee Dental Care we have been able to operate safely and efficiently over the last six months and we are pleased to say that this can continue during this coming lockdown. We have been doing both emergency and routine treatment for a while and this will continue.

If you have an appointment booked with us in the coming days and weeks, you are still most welcome to attend and we will be pleased to see you. We do understand however, that some patients will want to cancel or rearrange their appointments.

Please contact the surgery immediately by telephone on 01189813304 if you wish to rearrange your appointment.

We do hope that you will all stay safe and well at this time and by following the rules we can all buy some time for the vaccination programme to be successful.

Screening prior to appointments

Before your appointment, a member of our team will call you to carry out a screening questionnaire for COVID -19, which will then be repeated on the day of your appointment.

On day of appointment

Please try to arrive only a short period before your appointment and travel alone if possible.

For those that have travelled by car, we would request you to wait in your vehicle and call the front desk to let them know that you have arrived.

For those travelling in by other means, please wait outside the front door.

Hygienist appointments

Dental hygiene appointments will be available, but to reduce the risk of aerosol transmission, they will be carried out with the use of hand instruments only and without the use of the ultrasonic scaler.

Shielded and self isolating patients

We must stress that patients who have been advised that fall within a vulnerable group should continue to self-isolate, and to get in touch if any dental problems arise.

If we have reason to think you are at risk of being infective, even if you are without symptoms, we will not be able to see you for at least 2 weeks. We appreciate your understanding for this necessity.

We will continue to develop our strategy to improve safety for all. As such, please check the website for relevant updates. Guidelines are constantly changing, and we are adapting on an almost daily basis.

We cannot thank you all enough for your ongoing understanding and support during this difficult time.

Looking forwards to seeing you soon

Lee Dental Care 10th Year Anniversary of the BDA Good Practice Scheme

We are delighted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Lee Dental Crae being awarded the British Dental Associations Good Practice accreditation .
What does this mean?

The BDA Good Practice Scheme is a quality assurance framework for UK dental practices.

By becoming members of the Scheme, practices demonstrate a visible commitment to providing quality dental care to nationally recognised best practice standards. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has accepted that membership of the Scheme is a reliable indication that the practice is using a QA framework. Practices meeting the Scheme standard should be well positioned for meeting CQC compliance.Good Practice Scheme members are committed to supporting patients towards achieving and maintaining good oral health. Achieving the best possible outcomes for patients depends upon the skills and professionalism of the whole dental team. Here is a statement that sums up what Good Practice Scheme membership stands for:

1. We will work with you to provide care that meets your needs and wishes. We will explain what we are proposing to do and tell you about any significant risks. We will explain options and cost so that you can make an informed choice about your care and we keep all information about you confidential

2. We look after your general health and safety whilst you are receiving dental care by undertaking risk assessments and managing any potential hazards at our premises. Infection control and cleanliness is also essential for safety and we follow current guidelines on preventing cross infection

3. All our staff are given training in practice procedures, staff members responsibilities are clear and staff take part in continuing professional education to keep their skills and knowledge up to date

4. Our practice working methods are reviewed regularly and we ask patients for their views on our service in order to identify any opportunities for improvement.
